Employment and Skills Officer for Leeds City Council (Elaine Waugh) was invited into the academy to deliver assemblies on Apprenticeships to students in Years 9,10 & 11. The aim was to raise awareness of the apprenticeship route and where apprenticeships can be found. There was also a focus on the promotion of the Leeds Apprenticeships Recruitment Fair on 12 February 2025 for Year 11 students. The assemblies looked at: what an apprenticeship is, levels, salary, types, what skills and qualities employers are looking for and where to look for Apprenticeships. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions.
Feedback taken from students after the assemblies can be seen below.
80% of students said they found the assembly useful.
80% of students said they had a clearer understanding of apprenticeships.
70% of students stated they would like to do an apprenticeship in the future.
