Every student that started at The Stephen Longfellow Academy in Autumn, got to explore the themes Fresh Starts and New Beginnings. In art students got the chance to try out different materials and reflect on what they hoped to ‘unlock’ and get out of their time whilst here at the academy.
After experimenting with watercolours, pen and water, acrylic paints and tissue paper, learners then used photocopies of their initial experiments and create collaged keys.
The experimentation continued with KS3 students working on a marine life project which allowed them developed their skills and understanding of the ‘Formal Elements’ of art; these are Line, Tone, Shape, Texture, Colour, Form, Pattern and Space.
