I have just completed my first year at Elliott Hudson College and I am studying BTEC Applied Law alongside A-Levels in Psychology and Sociology. I am looking forward to moving into my final year. My long-term goal is to progress to university the following year, with the ultimate ambition of passing the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) and qualifying as a solicitor.
The transition to college was made much smoother thanks to the incredible support I received during my time at The Stephen Longfellow Academy. The staff there gave me the confidence and foundation I needed to pursue my academic goals, and their continuous encouragement really helped prepare me for the step up to higher-level studies.

I was a student at the Stephen Longfellow Academy for just over 3 years! They really did set me up for life! As a student at TSLA, I felt valued every day, I felt safe and I felt as though I was very well looked after as a student and any teacher would go out of their way to get me the right support, the right learning materials and always made sure I turned up to school with the correct attitude to learning.
With the right support, I improved my attendance and this helped turn my academic attitude around massively. I always imagined I wouldn’t fit into TSLA, but once again, I was proven massively wrong. TSLA is for anyone of any age and of any sexuality, gender, race, ethnicity, hair colour, anything! I would like to say a HUGE thank you to the careers team at Stephen Longfellow for getting me into the Travel and Tourism apprenticeship. I am now a qualified Travel Consultant and moving into management within Hayes Travel.

When I first attended The Stephen Longfellow Academy, I was experiencing significant issues at home. I struggled with my behaviour, my self-esteem and my confidence. The support I received at TSLA was better in the one year I attended there, than my whole five years in secondary school. The staff pushed me to achieve the best, helped me realise my potential and also only ever wanted the best for me. The staff and support provided at TSLA are one of a kind.
Due to the amazing career advice I received, I was able, and confident enough, to progress onto my A-Levels at The Elliott Hudson College. I achieved ABB grades in Psychology, Law and Sociology. I have recently graduated with a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Psychology and Child Development. Now, I work as a Domestic Abuse Support Worker, helping 16–25-year-olds that are at risk of, or are experiencing abuse. I have supported care-leavers and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children.
Since leaving school, my career goal has always been to provide consistent support to young people that really need it, like I once did. Thank you so much to TSLA for giving me the foundations and encouragement to progress as a struggling young person. You helped me change my life.
