The Careers Team worked with a Schools Adviser from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to support its Year 11 students to create CV’s.
Students were given an initial presentation about a CV and its value. Students were then guided to use a template to produce their CV’s, which they could use for applying to part time jobs and to help them complete applications. Students were also given a 100 CV words sheet to support them further. The workshops were 40 minutes each, with 5 minutes presentation and 35 minutes practical, creating the CV. All CVs were saved to student areas and any students who didn’t complete their CV in full will have a follow up meeting with Mr Gill (Careers Officer) to do this.
Feedback from students showed that:
70% of students said they were not confident in doing a CV at the start of the session. After the session 90% of students said they were confident in creating CV’s.
90% of the students said they would recommend the workshop to future students. Students were also advised and shown the Skills 2 Succeed website, where they can access careers modules to support them to improve their CV’s further.

A text with a link to CV resources was also sent out to every year 11 parent as there were some students who were not present that day.
