As part of the Stephen Longfellow Careers programme, Year 10 students were given the opportunity to visit FE colleges to raise further awareness of post 16 options. In June, students visited Elliott Hudson College, which is an Ofsted outstanding rated college and one of the top performing colleges for student achievement in the region.
Students who attended the visit, participated in a presentation about the college, learned about the destinations of students who had been there previously and undertook a tour of the facilities. Students were also given the opportunity to meet a current Year 12 student who had previously been at the Stephen Longfellow Academy and had the opportunity to ask any questions about their experience.
Feedback taken from the students showed:
83% had been made aware about the different courses on offer at the college.
40% Said they would consider going to EHC post 16.
83% Would recommend this visit to other students.
The Stephen Longfellow Academy will continue to work Elliott Hudson College to support its Careers Programme to promote the variety of post 16 options to its students. Further College visits are planned for September to Leeds City College and other providers.
