Employer assembly – Sulzer Pumps

The Stephen Longfellow Academy invited Sulzer Pumps (A global leader in fluid and chemical processing applications) to speak to its students about Engineering opportunities. Assemblies were held for both Key Stage 3 & Key Stage 4 students.

The main aim was to inspire students about Engineering and STEM Careers. Students also learned about a local employer and learned about the apprenticeships offered by Sulzer. Students were also informed of their location to us and about their national and international opportunities. Students were also told how many apprentices they take on each year and what it takes to be a successful apprentice.

From student and staff feedback the assemblies were well received and positive. Students engaged well with the assemblies and asked suitable questions to Sulzer Employee, Jay Fowler (Test Engineer) about his job and other careers at Sulzer.
