First Bus were invited into the Stephen Longfellow Academy to promote careers in transport. Holly Buckley (Social value manager) delivered an inspiring and engaging employer assembly to students at the academy.
Holly challenged stereotypes about the careers at First Bus and in the transport industry. She also explained the varied roles on offer from drivers, electrical engineers, mechanics, administration roles to facilities managers. Labour market information on average salaries was also provided. Holly also discussed how someone can enter into careers at first bus and covered apprenticeships and direct routes into employment. Students were informed about the skills and qualities employers are looking for and how to become more employable.
Feedback from students about the assembly was positive.
Over 50% of students said they had learned about new transport careers, and 25% said it has made them think about a career in Transport or working with First Bus.
