West Yorkshire Police representatives delivered an inspiring and engaging employer encounter to both Key stage 3 & Key Stage 4 students at The Stephen Longfellow Academy. The aim was to raise awareness about the different career opportunities in Policing. Students were also made aware of employability skills, labour market information and the police cadet’s programme. Students were able to ask questions about all the roles and also see some of the equipment used in policing first hand.
Feedback from both staff and students about the workshops was extremely positive.
Over 80% of students said they had learned about new police roles and 30% said it has made them think about a career in policing.

Building on the success of the employer encounter with West Yorkshire Police , a primary workshop is planned for January 2026. We thank West Yorkshire Police for their support with the schools careers programme.
