Dear Parent/Carer
I wanted to send a short letter home to you in order to introduce myself as the new Principal here at The Stephen Longfellow Academy. I have already spoken to a number of you at the Open Evening in November and also on the phone to let you know how well your child is doing with us, so thank you!
This is the beginning of our first year in what is an excellent temporary facility prior to moving to Phoenix House, near the White Rose Shopping Centre in September 2018. I would also like to thank you for supporting us to make the start of this new academic year so successful. You have clearly thought about ensuring our students, your children, are properly presented in a professional manner for school. We need to ensure that students have the appropriate uniform (including black shoes or plain black trainers), and it should be noted that uniform does not include tight fitting trousers. Attached to this letter (for your convenience) is a uniform order form should you wish to purchase more items of clothing direct from the school. Please fill in the details and return to the form to school (with payment) and we will ensure we purchase this on your behalf.
Also, please ensure that your child brings a coat into school every day, during the cold winter months. Mobile phones are not permitted around school, and jewellery needs to be simple and discreet. Please be aware that all personal items are brought to school at students’ own risk and placed in their locker at form time until the end of the school day. Finally, I’d like to assure you that the amazing work started here at The Stephen Longfellow Academy since your initial meetings in the summer and early September, will not only be maintained under my leadership, but will further develop and flourish with your continued support. I hope to meet many more of you as the weeks go by.
