This half term, Year 9 have been studying the novel ‘Animal Farm’ by George Orwell with a focus on reading skills and writing activities. The aim of the unit was to encourage critical reading and provide plenty of opportunities for speech-making and class discussion around plot, characters and themes. One of the main themes that runs throughout the novel is power and leadership in which plenty of in-depth discussions around this topic have taken place. So far students have read up to chapter 4 of the novel and will continue their reading until the end of term.
