In Y7 this half term, students have been focused on the theme of the sea, working through a series of non-fiction texts centred around the Titanic. Students have looked at print adverts and stories of the people on the ship, focusing on developing their reading and comprehension skills. Y8 have been tackling the theme of mountain and reading about the journey of two infamous climbers in Touching the Void. They have been developing their inference skills by analysing key quotations and have planned and written their own creative pieces from the perspective of the climbers. We have enjoyed thinking about the resilience of these men and how we can emulate these traits in our own lives.
