Rowing / Karate:
This half term has seen both the Karate and Rowing programmes at TSLA go from strength to strength. Last academic year saw the launch of Karate intervention sessions here at TSLA, where students are able to access 1 to 1 sessions with the trust Karate coach, to support them with various things such as how to regulate their emotions, or helping them to be more physically active. These sessions now run on both a Wednesday and Friday, with 14 students accessing a session this week! Furthermore, the Karate enrichment club is back up and running with students preparing for WYSOK in November, where we can hopefully build upon the success of one student last year coming 2nd in his category! This half term has also seen the launch of the new on the water rowing programme! This includes students having the exciting opportunity to row on the water every other week. This has been an amazing opportunity, with both students and staff, thoroughly enjoying the experience. Bring on the end of year trust boat race!

Sailing / Enrichment:
This term we have launched the new enrichment timetable with a total of 16 sessions per week with 15 different activities for students to choose from. Students have attended 55 sessions so far this term and gained house points for their respective houses. Karate, football and science have been some of the most popular enrichment activities so far this term.
5 students and 2 members of staff seized the opportunity to go sailing along the east coast during HT1 onboard Queen Galadriel a 1930’s restored Dutch Barge. Students were given the opportunity to helm the boat, climb the rigging and drive the tender boat, whilst sailing down the east coast from Ipswich to Essex and back. The sailing trip allowed us to experience life at sea and was both physically and mentally stimulating for the students and challenged their resilience.
