The Stephen Longfellow Academy is committed to ensuring that when all our young people graduate from the academy they are fully prepared for the world of training, study, or work. We offer our students an academic provision, allowing them to achieve excellent grades in GCSEs in English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Fine Art and Citizenship, alongside vocational courses such as Sport and Fitness, Catering and Hospitality, Health and Social Care and Construction. We hold the highest expectations of them and recognise that academic success can be truly transformative for a young person’s options Post-16.

Examinations are an important part of the teaching process and our dedicated team of specialist subject teachers work alongside our pastoral teams to ensure that students manage the workload to succeed whilst also providing emotional support and encouragement. This is also conducted alongside rigorous careers guidance.

All our students complete Iterative Tests throughout the year, and in Years 10 and 11, students sit formal mock examinations. These allow us to provide precise guidance on improvements to study whilst inculcating students into the feel of the real examinations they will sit in the summer of Year 11.
