Year 8
During HT1 students have developed their knowledge of basic food hygiene and understanding food safety within the kitchen. Students can explain in detail the importance of The Eatwell Guide and the 8 tips to healthy eating. During the half term students have cooked apple swans, jumbles, stir fry, macaroni cheese, pizza and a toffee apple Halloween biscuit as part of our SMSC link.
Leland independently made an apple swan to develop his knife skills, by developing knife skills early supports year 11 GCSE Food, Preparation and Nutrition.


Year 9
In Year 9 students begin their GCSE studies, this starts by recapping the key topics studied within year 8 such as The Eatwell guide moving onto the GCSE Food, Preparation and Nutrition topics. Year 9 have been focusing on understanding a healthy balanced diet, energy needs and balance, nutritional information and allergy advice, special dietary requirements and understanding where ingredients come from. During HT1 they have cooked cheese scones, chicken chow mein, all in one cake with ganache, pasta, fajitas, pizza and cheesecake.
Jaiden Year 9
Jaiden independently made a high-quality spaghetti Bolognese and focused on what high quality presentation looks like as this will support him in his year 11 Non Examined Assessments.
