Year 10 students were invited to attend a tour of a Leeds City College Campus on the 23/01/2020. The aim was to improve awareness of Further Education provision and to see what life is like at Leeds City College.
This visit was a follow up activity to a school careers session on Post 16 options and a Leeds city College assembly.
Students visited the new £60m, Leeds City College – Quarry Hill campus. On arrival they were greeted by the student liaison team. This was followed by a guided tour of the facilities and departments, which included seeing the purpose-built dance studios, darkrooms, childcare facilities, medical areas, modern classrooms, digital suites, stages and creative studios.
Students were informed of the courses offered at Quarry Hill and about student life. They were also reminded of the wider courses on offer at other campuses.

The positive impact of this trip was immediately visible, with students expressing an interest in the courses offered by Leeds City College such as games design and music technology.
Feedback collected from students showed, 100% agreed that the visit has increased awareness of the different types of courses offered at Leeds City College. 100% said they would recommend the tour to other students and 90% Said they had learned about new courses.

The Stephen Longfellow Academy will continue to work in partnership with Leeds City College to raise aspirations, inspire students about the possibilities and options available to them post 16.
