Year 11
This half term, year 11 students have started work on the final unit of the History GCSE qualification – Living Under Nazi Rule 1933-45. Students have looked at the early life of Adolf Hitler and his eventual rise to power which led to him becoming dictator of Germany in 1933. We have focused particularly on his extreme views and beliefs which ultimately led to the persecution of over 6 million Jews during the Holocaust. We have studied events such as the Reichstag Fire, how propaganda was used by the Nazis to spread their ideals and beliefs as well as the way the SA, SS and Gestapo were used to intimidate and influence German people. Students have also worked incredibly hard with regards to practicing answering exam questions to prepare for their GCSE exams in June. Next half term, we will be looking at how ordinary German people’s lives were changed by the dictatorship of Hitler as well as Germany as a whole during World War Two.
