During half term 6 our students are focusing on a creative programme of study using Microsoft Office Paint 3D. Students are able to accomplish tasks within Paint 3D such as constructing their own 3D objects, placing them within a scene, as well as using Paint 3D’s Magic Select tool as either a 2D or 3D editor. This type of learning brings new challenges and opportunities to our students that excites and empowers them to be creative. ICT in our school has the potential to be highly responsive to our students and these challenges will develop new and existing skills within ICT.
This way of working and this freedom will have a positive effect on the teaching of ICT at The Stephen Longfellow Academy and we are in a position to personalise the curriculum in what students learn, how they learn and how we can develop and ensure progress. As we advance through into the next academic year we will enrich our students experience of ICT through a variety of different topics and allow them the opportunity to share and develop their understanding. This will be delivered in world class facilities at our new site Phoenix House.
In all year groups, we aim to develop ICT skills, building upon previous experiences and developing them further in their options subject at Key Stage 4. We also aim to introduce new experiences to help further their enjoyment of ICT, based on skills and topics that personalise the children’s learning to their own needs and interests but also fits alongside the national curriculum.
