What will students’ study in this subject?
Learners this half term have transferred their knowledge of Component 1: Learning Aim B and are on the verge of completing a piece of coursework. Students have created a project plan and design specification that shows an initial design of a user interface that meets both the user requirements and design principles.
The students project brief has required them to design a touch screen information system at Leeds Arena. Students have shown their understanding of project methodologies and the different tools used to plan out a project. Students have had to set SMART aims and objectives, whilst taking into consideration user requirements and user accessibility needs and working to a set design specification.
Over the next academic year, learners will create an initial design for a user interface using the design principles listed in section A3 of Component 1. Learners will then discover how to develop and review a digital user interface, explore how data impacts on individuals and organisations, draw conclusions and make recommendations on data intelligence. Students will be required to develop a dashboard using data manipulation tools, explore how modern information technology is evolving and they must consider the legal and ethical issues in data and information sharing and understand what cybersecurity is and how to safeguard against it.
