This half term in Maths students have been studying number topics in preparation for their GCSE examination. At the end of every topic students’ progress in Maths tracked via the work in their Maths books and by the classroom assessment tasks we do at the end of every topic.

Every classroom assessment task is split into either a bronze, silver or gold task where gold is most challenging. The classroom assessment tasks are made up of GCSE exam questions from recent exam papers and done in purple zone to build the resilience of students in KS4 Maths Students are focusses on honing their basic mathematical skills, developing fluency and further improving their ability to solve real life mathematical problems and functional maths problems

KS4 Maths is split into higher and foundation to reflect the setup of the three terminal exams. Higher tier covers grade 4 to 9 and foundation covers grades 1 to 5. Foundation students who consistently score a grade 5 will be given the opportunity to sot the higher tier exam. Students have an end of half term test and also will sit a full set of mock examinations in exam conditions.
