As part of their History GCSE, year 11 are required to complete a site study in their local area. The visit to Temple Newsam was a fantastic day and the students were enthusiastic and keen to ask questions. The day involved a walk around the house in the morning to gather evidence needed for their exam. We were even lucky enough to be given a guided tour of the cellars! After lunch the students worked hard to link the information they had gathered to their upcoming exam.
Students will sit a one hour paper entirely on the Temple Newsam topic. With the exam contributing to 20% of the student’s final grade. This was a useful opportunity to see the amazing building for themselves and experience a hands on experiential take on the subject.
