On Wednesday 1st May 2019 six year 10 NCFE students attended the Sports Science Taster morning at Leeds City College. The students learned all about the different types of sports drinks and their impact on the body/performance. They discovered what went into each of a Lucozade Original and a Powerade as well as when is the ideal time to drink these if they were a sports performer. The students then got to create their own brand, creating a label and a slogan and then their very own sports drinks. They mixed sugar, salt, water and a flavouring and then got to taste test it to see if they would purchase it. The students received their own sports bottle and were well informed about which options would be available to them at Leeds City College should they wish to further their career in Sport.
Many of the group said that they would consider careers in sports science and would like to know more about the sport offer at Leeds City College.
