Year 9
This half term Year 9 have concluded Unit 3 on Graphs, Tables and Charts which included understanding and interpreting pie charts and two-way tables. They then progressed on to Unit 4 Fractions & Percentages. We’re really pleased with the progress our Year 9 students are making.
Lola – Brilliant understanding of two-way tables and using these to solve problems.
Rowan Y9 – This is a piece of work on calculating the shaded sector of a pie chart, within an independently completed purple zone.
Jaiden – Excellent progress calculating fractions of amounts.
Year 10
Year 10 continue to make excellent progress in Maths, working through Unit 11 Ratio & Proportion. They particularly have excelled at sharing into a given ratio. They now also know how to use proportion to determine the best buy between 2 deals. Following this, students will progress onto the Probability unit.
Callam (Year 10) sharing an amount in a given ratio. He has then reflected on the method and explained in his own words.
Ellie (Year 10) has fully understood how to share an amount into a given ratio, a key topic within Unit 11 Ratio & Proportion.
Gabbi (Year 10) – During this lesson Gabbi was able to complete GCSE exam style questions that required her to share a ratio in a given amount.
Freddie (Year 10) – This best buys work has been completed to showcase which product is the best value for money by using the unitary method.
Jack (Year 10) – Excellent understanding of probability within this independent Purple Zone task.
Year 11
Year 11 lessons are now entirely personalised to the learning needs of our students. By using Question Level Analysis from recent mock exams as well as topics identified within practice papers, Year 11 teachers have been planning and delivering lessons to fill the gaps in students’ knowledge. Year 11 will now prepare for their next round of mock exams after half term.
Tyler (Year 11) – Within this lesson Tyler was able to successfully apply Pythagoras’ Theorem in order to calculate the missing length of a side of a triangle.
Brandon (Year 11) – During this lesson Brandon was able to successfully solve equations with unknowns on both sides. He was then able to take this one step further and solve equations with unknowns on both sides including brackets!
Ellie (Year 11) – Grasping the concept of simple interest here, making excellent progress.
Chloe (Year 11) – Developed her understanding of Equations of a Line, a topic identified as a gap in knowledge following previous mock exams.
