The topics covered this half term have been:

Foundation Tier

Basic angles use a protractor to measure angles
Basic angles – solving basic angle problems – straight lines and about a point
Basic angles – more complex angle problems – quadrilaterals, triangles
3D Shapes – name basic 3D shapes and compare their properties
Nets – identify and draw nets of basic 3D shapes
Symmetry -understand lines of symmetry and planes of symmetry
Congruent and similar shapes – understand the terms congruency and similarity and identify each type of shape.
Labelling Circles – be able to identify and label the different parts of a circle
Metric units – know and convert between different metric units of length, weight, volume
Polygons – name all types of triangles, quadrilaterals and up to 10 sided polygons. Also compare properties.
Angles in parallel lines – understand apply to calculations the rules of angles in parallel lines

Higher Tier

Volume – Find the volume 3D shapes such as cubes and prisms, pyramids, frustums, spheres and hemispheres
Surface Area – Find the volume and surface area of basic 3D shapes such as cubes, pyramids, frustums, spheres and hemispheres and prisms
Similarity – use similarity and scale factors to calculate missing sides of shapes.
Pythagoras – use Pythagoras theorem to finds missing sides to right angled triangles in 2D and 3D
