Year 9
After the incredible work on number skills that year 9 did in the first half term, they have begun to apply those skills to the algebra topic at the start of the year. They have been learning and securing skills such as simplifying expression, and combining this with perimeter, as well as expanding and simplifying brackets.
Following on from the algebra topic, year 9 have moved onto data and statistics, completing excellent work on constructing dual bar charts, using line graphs to compare data, and completing two way tables.
Year 10
Year 10 completed the algebra unit at the start of the half term and have really shown that they can develop skills to scientific formula (SUVAT) and combine topics, such as expressions and perimeter.
This half term year 10 moved on to the data handling topic and have really excelled on this topic, particularly when working on constructing and interpreting pie charts, completing a variety of charts and working with averages problems as well as calculating the mean from a frequency table.
Year 11
Year 11 began the half term preparing for and sitting their mock exams. They then had a series of different lessons and marking to support them in improving on specific topics, for example speed, distance and time calculations.
Following on from this they have been completing the highly important ratio and proportion unit which includes sharing in a ratio, combining ratios and applying proportion to exchange rates. This topic is a large proportion on the GCSE exam.
