At The Stephen Longfellow Academy we recognise that children and young people, as well as adults, may at some time in their lives face adversity and challenge that impacts upon their social emotional and mental health. As an Alternative Provision settings we believe that behaviour is a form of communication and is often an indicator of underlying difficulties, such as challenging childhood experiences, pressure/stress and change, for example loss and bereavement.
It is our responsibility to ensure that the needs of the whole child/young person are met. As well as our academic offer our support teams Pastoral, Health and Wellbeing, Safeguarding and Outreach, Attendance and Student Welfare Officers provide a universal offer for all students and parents/carers of students that attend the academy.
