BTEC Year 9
In year 9 BTEC students have been looking at the technical demands of table tennis and volleyball. We have broken down each skill and described how they are performed with students showing an understanding of when they would be performed. Students then demonstrated their understanding by being able to perform this in a practical environment. We will now move onto looking at the physical components needed for the two sports and why these are important within sport.
NCFE Year 10
In year 10 our students are preparing for their unit 1 exam next year. Students have been working incredibly hard to securely embed the knowledge they will be required to know. Students have been developing their understanding of the skeletal system, the structures and functions of the skeleton, as well as the types of bones and joints that make up the system. They have shown a great understanding of this and can identify functions of the bones and apply movement to sporting examples.
NCFE Year 11
Our students in year 11 have recently sat their Unit 1 exam after lots of revision sessions including a heart dissection to secure knowledge around the functions and blood vessels within the heart. They have now progressed onto the unit 2 synoptic assignment. Students have been busy preparing themselves with the knowledge that they are required to support their client with before devising a 4-week fitness plan, these will be given to TSLA staff members with a view to improve our own fitness. They have looked at factors such as activity levels, diet, rest and recovery, and how drugs/smoking will contribute to the lifestyle choices.
