Year 8
During HT2 students developed their knowledge of the Chemistry topic Chemical Reactions. In this topic students were exposed to the different types of reactions; oxidation, combustion and metal-acid reactions. Students were able to describe in detail a method for investigating the Law of Conservation of mass. This in a fundamental skills and gives students the skills needed to succeed in Science. Towards the end of the half-term students began investigating what happens when a metal reacts with an acid.
Harrison (8.2)
During the Chemical Reaction topic this half term Harrison was very successful at working scientifically. He was able to conduct a practical and then describe the method for this during an extended piece of writing.
Johnny (8.2)
The students conducted several practicals investigating the differences between a physical change and a chemical reaction. Jonny was able to then describe this in detail during an extended piece of writing during purple zone.
