Year 7
Our young scientists have completed their first Chemistry topic in which they’ve investigated atoms, elements and compounds and understood the differences between the many elements that have been discovered on earth. They are now studying Humans as organisms. Within this topic students start to learn about the basics of Biology; microscopes, animal cells and plant cells and then move onto more complex processes of the human body including digestion and reproduction.
Marley (Year 8) – Marley has accessed a number of Maths progress checks this term and has been able to build his recall and fluency skills during his Green for Growth catch up sessions
Year 8
Year 8 have been studying chemical reactions, understanding the differences between metals and non-metals, exothermic and endothermic reactions. Students have been able to distinguish between materials and describe trends found within the periodic table. They have also been able to explain why some reactions give off heat and some reactions take in heat.
