Year 9
Year 9 have made great progress understanding more complex concept throughout their science lessons. They have started and have completed most of the Energy topic which is their first foray into Physics. They have grasped the understanding of different energy types and how energy is transferred from one form to another.
Year 10
During HT2 Year 10 completed the Electricity topic. They created different circuits with different components and learnt many keywords and equations. Year 10 showed great mathematical understanding and used many skills learnt in Maths throughout this topic to help to calculate different values. They also demonstrated great practical skills throughout the many practical lessons throughout this topic.
The year group also managed to complete a trust wide Interim assessment in which they held their own. This was a massive success for the group and showed strong qualities such as resilience and determination.
Year 11
This has been a massively successful half-term for Year 11 as they completed their first set of Mock examinations. The result shows a strong cohort who with work will be successful. It is important to note that almost all students completed their mocks to a high level with great focus and were able to abide by examination criteria.
Year 11 also focused on the physics topic Forces and then moved on to Ecology, a biology topic. Both topics give our students a different prospective on science and allow students to gain different skills. Fundamentally students have worked away to gain a lot of knowledge with plenty of examination practice.
STEM Club
STEM Club kicked off this year with a bang at TSLA. The project, which will continue over the next term was to build a RC Nitro powered car. The car came to us as a kit. So far, the students have installed the steering servo, mounted the engine mounts, installed the clutch and flywheel.
