In half term 4, key stage 4 have been working towards completing the physics topic forces. Students have understood the concept of both contact and non-contact forces and how these differ, developing their knowledge of how an object can have one or more force acting on it at any one time, accurately labeling diagrams to show the resultant force.

Students have also worked hard to fully understand and articulate the following subtopics: Work done, speed, acceleration, velocity and stopping distances. Following a number of lessons, the vast majority of our students were able to plot velocity time graphs with all students demonstrating the ability to calculate both speed and acceleration using calculations.

We finished the topic with a fantastic electromagnetism practical with Mr. Craine. Students had the opportunity to make their own electromagnets, learning all about the magnetic properties of electricity.
