The Stephen Longfellow Academy invited the West Yorkshire Sport College to speak to P.E. students about their amazing post 16 offer.
Students were informed about gaining qualifications in Sports Coaching, Sports Science, Business and A Levels alongside training as a football player. Students were shown the different pathways on offer and how to apply for these opportunities.
Students were involved in a question-and-answer session and interacted well in the session. Students were shown the amazing facilities available to students and how they can be collected from Leeds Bus Station to attend the provision in Wyke, Bradford.
Students were told about the different entry requirements required to access the provision.
Several of our Year 11 students signed up for the post 16 programme and several other students showed interest in playing football in the local area.
Students were also informed about a former Stephen Longfellow Academy student who joined the college after completing Year 11, then went onto complete his Level 3 Sport course and is now playing football as a semi professional football player as well as studying further.
We would like to thank Luke Dean and Blaze Stasiewicz from the West Yorkshire Sports College who delivered the session and really engaged our students.
The Stephen Longfellow Academy will continue to work with The West Yorkshire Sports college to inspire and raise aspirations about careers in Sport, linking the subject of PE to future Post 16 options and careers.
