Leeds Beckett University – 21/03/2023 & 22/03/2023
It is important for all students to have encounters with Further and Higher Education establishments and understand the full range of opportunities available to them. For this reason, Leeds Beckett University staff and student ambassadors were invited into the academy to deliver assemblies to students on raising awareness of Universities and Higher Education.
Students were made aware of what a university is, what qualifications are needed to get there, what they can do there and what are the benefits of going. Students were asked True and False questions and were given opportunities to ask questions to the student ambassador on his life at university and actively participated in the assemblies.
Assemblies were delivered to students across all Secondary key stages, 3 and 4.
Student feedback was positive about the assemblies with 43% of students said they would consider going to university compared to 23% prior to the assemblies. Feedback gained from the university representative can be seen below.
“Thank you for inviting us to talk to your students. We really enjoyed visiting the school. We were very impressed by the Key Stage 4 group who were very respectful to me and George (Student Ambassador). They were focused through the talk and listened well to all the information we provided. We would happily attend the academy again to talk to students at the school.”

As a result of the positive work with Leeds Beckett University, we will now be taking students for an inspirational visit to a Leeds Beckett Campus in May 2023.
