Students have been developing their culinary skills and understanding the importance of following safe and hygienic practices in the working food preparation environment. Students have made sweet and savoury dishes to develop their practical skills and allow them to demonstrate their understanding of safe and hygienic practices working with different pieces of equipment. Students are now able to identify potential hazards and can prepare themselves and their environment to work hygienically.
Year 8
Year 8 students have developed their biscuit skills through making shortbread, ginger biscuits and flapjack. They have learnt about different pieces of equipment and using the oven safely.
Year 9
Year 9 students have developed their sauce and dough making skills. The students produced some fantastic bread, pasta sauce and curry with chapatti’s whilst learning about the function of different ingredients – such as why bread rises.
