KS4
Year 9
The students in Year 9 have continued learning in both practical and theory lessons. In theory the students have learnt about the importance of macronutrients and micronutrients in the diet. The students have cooked a range of dishes to a good standard, including chicken fajitas, gingerbread, and spicy chickpea and mushroom burgers.
Year 10
The students in year 10 have begun learning about food choice and factors affecting this, such as diet, health needs and religious beliefs. The students have continued to create dishes each week using a range of skills and techniques. Some of the dishes created include scotch eggs, apple turnovers and also sticky wings and thighs, using chicken which we jointed ourselves.
Year 11
Year 11 completed their first mock examination in November. Before and after the mocks, they have continued working on their non-exam assessed components of the course; with some very exiting plans emerging for what the students will cook in their 3-hour practical exam in the spring term!
